On the civic plaza there is a collection of statues, busts and monuments that reflect the history of Polokwane (Pietersburg) and its people. Gen. Piet Joubert on a horse: the group of bronze giraffe; Tom Naude; the War memorial that remembers the dead from both world wars and the bush war. The busts represent many of the people involved with the development Pieterburg. Next to the amphitheater there is a group representing a “Boere Orkes”; a boy with a penny whistle; and also the world’s largest replica of Langenhoven’s Sundial. On the other side of the garden is the Victorian bandstand.
