Smith Street – The Tudor Revival Playhouse Theatre and the adjacent Spanish Revival Prince’s Theatre were designed as ‘movie palaces’ in the middle 1920’s. Both buildings were converted in the 1980’s for the Natal Performing Arts Council and are now the heart of the performing arts in Durban. There is a fairy tale world of mock Tudor landscapes under clear skies inside the Playhouse.
