In 1936, the League of Nations defined a foreign tourist as
“Someone Traveling Abroad for at Least Twenty Four Hours“.
Its successor, the United Nations, amended this definition in 1945, by including a maximum stay of six months.
A Tour Guide (U.S.) or Tourist Guide (European) provides assistance, information and cultural, historical and contemporary heritage interpretation to people on organized tours and individual clients at educational establishments, religious and historical sites, museums, and at venues of other significant interest.
